Song One Hundred – Carpe Diem
Um… I’m not sure what to say.
This is the last song. It’s done. I’ve finished. I did it.
WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the best thing about writing about 100 songs in 100 days is the fact that I’ll never have to climb a big mountain or jump out of a plane or anything else that requires courage/effort. I’ve already done it – from the comfort of my swivel chair. I’m done. From this point on I can spend my days watching reality TV and eating chocolate with a clear conscience. Awesome.
I received so much support throughout this adventure with some people commenting on almost every track and writing regularly to me to let me know their thoughts which was fantastic because there were many moments when I needed the hellos and the feedback. I’ve been very hermity throughout this process and as such every email and every facey comment was fantastic to receive. You kept me going!
A special thanks goes to my beautiful friends Rachael, Clare, Georgia, and Yvie, who always checked in when I’m sure they had a million other things on their plate. And I’d like to thank my gorgeous sister who always checked in, and mum for being ever supportive. And of course Rupert who was the biggest supporter of them all. I’m not looking forward to making up for all those clothes washed, dishes stacked and dinners prepared. But he got his very own song so I think that makes us even. Actually yes, that definitely makes us even. And Mazza and John and Harry, thank you for always popping by. And my brother Simon - without you this page wouldn’t even exist because you wouldn’t have set it up for me and God knows I have no idea how to do the special techie malarky bollocks. You also helped me along the way with any other techie issues and always told me off for using too much reverb. For your feedback and aid I will be forever grateful!
I can’t believe it took until the final track to bother getting a proper microphone so I could record myself playing the cello – but the fact that this was my last opportunity gave me a kick up the bum and I made it happen – all thanks to rock n roll mic supplier Tim Newsom and fabulous Kelly Gallagher for the use of her cello. Thank you! I treated it with love and respect and only threw it across the room once. It was such a pleasure getting to play cello again – got to get me one of those babies.
And I would love to thank Ian Drabble, producer extraordinaire who is currently in the process of mastering the 15 tracks I’m taking with me to perform live at Burning Man. Ian you are UNREAL – I can’t even explain the magnitude of awesomeness. It’s large. Very big indeed. And for those of you attending Burning Man, I’ll see you at centre camp at 1:30am Tuesday morning, and 5pm Friday for some Bang Bang!
And to all of the producers who contributed to this body of work - Rishi, Dave Webber, Dan Rowntree, Howard, Micha, Moniker, Rosso and Deisel J. All of your work was amazing and it was an honour getting to sing along with it.
Some of you may ask whats next? Well first there’s world domination. I’m going to be getting my favourite tracks and the most popular as voted by you, produced up properly and then of course they will hit iTunes and then the charts and before you can say Justin Beiber I’ll be massive. Either way I’m going to keep doing what I do – performing live as one half of We Go Bang Bang and taking our shizzle OS. The whole process has enabled me to focus and develop as an artist and now it’s time to get out of my bedroom and take it further.
So thank you all for tuning in. I’ll be keeping this blog up for a little while so please feel free to share it around. And when I return to Sydney I’ll be performing some live gigs so I’ll keep you all informed as to what when and how, so please check in late September for details!
Finally once again a big thanks to Rupe. You are an amazing and stupidly tall individual. Thank you for all your support, and thank you for not expecting anything in return ever. Including housework.
And now it’s time to post that final track. It’s a sort of soul track… something nice and sing songy to end the collection. I figured there’s enough electro in here and I was feeling a little bit soul sista… so ladies and gentlemen, the final track in 100songs100days, Carpe Diem. I’d like to say that this song relates to this entire project, but that would be naff so I won’t.
BANG ON PEOPLE!
